This is a fun assessment and breakdown of the average cost of overhauling your classic car project, ** but first,** this is just an idea and not the actual cost.

These figures and numbers are not the authors’. It is just a fun automotive meme to illustrate the basic overhaul cost to an off-the-frame car restoration. To some enthusiastic car guys, this might give them an Idea of the cost associated.

*** However, personally speaking; I find this assessment reasonably accurate. ***

I’ve done my share of overhauling and rebuilding classic cars. however, most were not considered classics back in the day.

The moral of this overhauling story is simple: ‘never think of starting an overhauling project unless you’re committed to finishing.’ There is no estimate on the actual cost of your project because too many variables are involved.

A partial overhaulen project would be easier to estimate than a complete “off-the-frame restoration.” However, if you intend to flip-it, a word of advice: ‘do it properly.’ Buyers today are quite knowledgeable, and most have done their research on what and where to look for repairs or shoddy workmanship. That’s where the advice comes into play … ‘do it right.’

📢Selling automotive parts and pieces at a swap meet.

*And for a hobbyist that is taking on the task of overhaulen your dream car, it could take years of ‘on-off’ dedication to complete. For professionals, the average could still average hundreds of hours.

  • Do not be one of those car enthusiasts who never finish their project and in the end, … taking their many hours of hard work to a place called “Unfinished National Swap Meet.” Many do end up there, however, “on the flip side,” that’s where you could find a half-finished overhaulen project.

Thanks Alan Roper, for the classic car overhaul evaluation. Although it was a fun read, it could be considered quite accurate.

I am an opinionated Canadian storyteller with many years in the transportation industry. Hobbies are classic cars and for fun and camaraderie, I am a vendor at swap meets. And...walking in parks and taking award-winning photos of anything that moves or doesn't. And that my friends, brings me here.
