Is Brantford Crossroads a Trading Post or ‘Antiques and Collectables Market ‘?

Crossroads Antiques Market in Brantford Is a Hidden Gem for Treasure Hunters Everywhere.

Could Crossroads Trading Post in Brantford be described as a flea market, or is it more of an antiques and collectibles outlet? Well, when you visit, call it whatever you like; however, what an interesting place to wander through and discover many unique and interesting treasures for sale.

  • This story began with an unexpected phone call that sent me toward Brantford and the Ancaster/Hamilton area. As we came nearer to the destination, I remembered a place I hadn’t visited in a long time, one that just happened to be along my route.

A Trip Down Memory Lane.

Before COVID-19 changed everything, I purchased many antiques and collectibles in this store. Back then, ‘Crossroads Trading Post’ was one of my favourite spots to browse for bargains and unique things. It had character, atmosphere, and more than a few surprises tucked among its aisles.

Of course, the pandemic brought many closures across Canada, and people’s shopping habits changed along with it, including mine. So, as I drove closer, I couldn’t help but wonder: “Is Crossroads still even there?”

  • As I pulled into the parking lot and snapped a few photos to prove to the readers, yes, it is indeed still alive and well.

Even though I was short visit, I couldn’t resist stepping inside for a quick look around. Some things had changed, but much of its old rustic charm remained. One thing I did notice missing was the old Cessna airplane that once proudly sat on the roof. It was a quirky landmark that all antique collectors would remember. *** However, now searching the gray matter, that plane has been gone for a long while.

“What You’ll Find Inside”

Crossroads Trading Post’ boast they have 60 vendors and 15,000 square feet packed with antiques, collectibles, memorabilia, décor, oddities, and nostalgic items from decades past.

Some might call this place a “diamond in the rough” because of its exterior appearance. But step inside, and you’ll find charm, character, and creativity written all over the décor.

Being a classic car enthusiast and lifelong collector of anything mechanical, I found something that immediately caught my attention: a collection of Crosley tabletop tube radios designed to resemble dashboard gauges from classic ’60s cars. They are radios to begin with; finding several in great condition in one place was a treat.

And it’s not just old radios you’ll find. You never know what you’ll come across here: vintage clothing, steampunk accessories, toys, tools, household antiques, old advertising signs that is in demand, and other pieces you won’t easily find anywhere else. That unpredictability is part of the fun.

That’s the magic of this place: **you truly never know what treasure you’ll stumble upon, “Expect the Unexpected.”

Once called a “trading post,” the market has evolved into a well-loved destination for antiques, collectibles, and one-of-a-kind oddities. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or simply curious, it’s a fun adventure waiting to happen.

So, folks, if you ever find yourself with a free afternoon and nothing in particular to do, consider stopping by Crossroads Antiques Market in Brantford. It’s unique, affordable, full of character, and guaranteed to spark a little nostalgia.

** If you’re lucky; you might walk out of Crossroads Antiques with your very first piece, ‘to your new collection.’
