Did you know: The town of St. Paul, Alberta, built a ‘UFO landing pad.’ The reason behind that thinking is, ‘To welcome all visitors to their community.’

The circular concrete pad seen in the photo was constructed as a symbol of open-mindedness and friendliness. St. Paul’s spirit wasn’t just open to cross-Canada travellers; the plaque beside the entrance suggests the UFO landing pad is also open to “intergalactic sight-seers” as well. (What is a UFO?)
“All are Welcome is the theme.”
Now, through all fairness, some townspeople thought it was simply an interesting idea to build a UFO landing pad, and others considered it a fun and quirky tourist attraction.
However, if you’re wondering where the UFO Landing Pad comes into play, that part is simple. The project was championed by Margo Lagassee, a believer in outer space activity, and a unique UFO landing pad was intended as a tourist and community-led Centennial initiative.
While the town’s connection to extraterrestrials is mostly symbolic, the adjacent Visitor Information Centre collects and displays reports of local and regional UFO sightings.
Personally, I’ve never read the sign-in book to see how many sightings have been noted, but research shows that Alberta Canada, has had its fair share of unexplained phenomena in the sky so I would think there would be some entries.
*The Landing Pad itself weighs over 130,000 kg of concrete
- Theoretically capable of supporting any UFO that might choose to drop in.
- The landing pad sits beside a UFO exhibit and a hotline for reporting any unusual sightings.
To date, as per research, there are no documented extraterrestrial landings on the pad, nor any confirmed high-profile UFO events specific to St. Paul.
*** However, like mentioned, Alberta does have a long UFO sighting history. ***
Examples of Unidentified Objects Include:
- Duhamel Landing Marks (1967)**
- Edmonton Sightings (1967)**
- Nanton Area Sighting (2014) A mother and daughter living on a ranch outside Nanton reported two bright lights hovering over a field before rapidly flying toward them, startling their cattle.
This ongoing data collection by Ufology Research in Canada shows consistent UFO reports in Cold Lake, Lac La Biche, Fort McMurray, Viking, and Jasper. So folks… they’re out there.
As I’m winding down my short story. I felt the research on St. Paul, Alberta, suggests that there is more to the ‘UFO landing pad’ than meets the eye.
Although people have a love-hate relationship with the unknown, or Extra Terrestrials in particular, “the plaque inscriptions is what I found most interesting as I read it up close.”

The Plaque Commemorating The UFO Landing Pad reads….
*** AS MANKIND STANDS ON THE THRESHOLD OF INTER GALACTIC TRAVEL, LET US NOT FORGET OUR FAILURES ON EARTH.
IF WE ARE TO BECOME VOYAGEURS OF SPACE, WE MUST NOT FORGET OUR FAILURES ON EARTH.
IF WE ARE TO BECOME VOYAGERS OF SPACE, WE MUST LEARN THE TRUE MEANING OF TOLERANCE OF OTHERS THAT ARE DIFFERENT FROM US.
WE MUST REMEMBER THAT NO MATTER HOW LARGE THE UNIVERSE, THE SMALLEST CREATURE HAS ITS PLACE IN THE ORDER OF LIFE.
IF WE FAIL TO CONQUER DISEASE PESTILENCE ON EARTH. BUT INSTEAD TRANSMIT THEM TO OTHER PLANETS, WE SHALL NEVER BE WELCOME IF WE FAIL TO TRAVEL EARTH WITHOUT DESTROYING THE ENVIRONMENT. HOW SHALL WE EVER TRAVEL THE UNIVERSE SAFELY.
IF WE CANNOT DEVELOP INTERNATIONAL GOODWILL AMUNG ALL MEN, HOW SHALL WE EVER DEVELOP INTER GALACTIC GOODWILL AMONG ALL BEINGS?
LASTLY, IF MANKIND TRAVELS THIS EARTH OR UNIVERSE ARMED WITH KINDNESS, TOLERANCE, HOPE AND GOOD SPIRITS, HE WILL ALWAYS BE WELCOMED. ANON ***
THE END.
- Observation shows that the wording on the plaque was never corrected by an ‘Artificial Intelligence program, like Grammarly,’ however, it might have been inscribed by entities of unknown origin. The wording makes far too much sense for a man to write it.
*Fun UFO Facts*
- Alberta often ranks third-highest in Canada for Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO) sightings after Ontario and British Columbia.
- In the U.S., California has the highest number of reported sightings, followed by Florida and Washington.
- Roswell Landing, New Mexico, of course, remains the legendary capital of UFO lore.

Final Thoughts
*The St. Paul landing pad has never welcomed alien visitors to my knowledge. *but one can hope.*
- It remains a successful and beloved tourist attraction with a gift shop and a UFO exhibit.
- St. Paul originated in 1896 as the Métis agricultural colony Saint-Paul-des-Métis. After hardships, the area incorporated as a village in 1912 and a town in 1936, eventually dropping “des-Métis” from the name.
- Built in 1967, the landing pad stands as a monument to unity, curiosity, and Canada’s Centennial imagination.
- Unlike Moonbeam, with its UFO tourist display, St. Paul, Alberta, just has the landing pad. They are equally fun places to visit in Canada.
Was Canada Actually Preparing for Visitors from Space with St. Paul’s UFO Pad? Maybe!!
