The fall Harold Watson Memorial Waterdown Car Show and Swap Meet has come and gone, but to clarify a few misconceptions. most car guys don’t call it Waterdown, it’s simply the ‘Rockton car show and Swap Meet. ‘ Why, because it’s held at the famous ‘Rockton Fair Grounds.’

Should You Liquidate Your Classic Car Collection Before You Die?

Decades of passion and collecting, what happens to your classic cars when you’re gone?”

By Dave Wettlaufer

One might read this title as a *thought-provoking question that could touch on personal values, legacy, and priorities, and one might even find this question a little sensitive or callous. However, being a betting man, I believe most responsible car collectors haven’t given this question a second thought. But maybe they should for their family’s sake.

Opinion: Rethinking Canada’s Defense: Submarines vs Innovation

As global tensions rise and NATO allies modernize their fleets, Canada faces pressure to invest in new submarines and upgrade the military, but I have to ask, is that really the smartest move?

In my opinion, ”I will plead my case to you, the reader, whether spending billions on outdated underwater hardware and thinking makes sense in today’s age of drones, AI warfare, and cyber defence.”

Women-Only Car Clubs Are on the Rise, Why More Women Like Getting Grease on Their Hands

The story behind women’s car clubs is simple: today’s women can and want to get their hands dirty, and many can fix cars just as well as men, so what’s the problem?
The slogan is; ”We can do it, we are going to start our own ‘women-only’ car club.

  • Could my story start by noticing more and more women-only car club ads on Facebook or the web? Or could it have started closer to home like a “men’s only” car club, ‘which, by the way, you can’t even say out loud?’

Can Money Really Make People Do Evil Things?

The long-used expression is, “Money is the root of all evil,” and that can be interpreted in several ways. The question is: “”” does that saying have any real merit, or is it just a colourful analogy? “””” And if so, then you have to wonder, can money really make people do evil things?

*** Well, again, we all know the answer to that question also. ***

In the general sense, money is the root of all evil suggests that the monetary system we use today can be responsible for much of the wrongdoing in the world. In other words, men and women are often willing to do terrible things to one another for financial gain. One of the most alarming examples is when people sell top-secret material to foreign entities, giving no thought to why they would betray the trust of the nation that which they were born and raised in.

Canada’s HMCS Margaret Brooke Docked at Owen Sound, A Bucket List Adventure.

The newspaper article reads: “Canada’s pride, the ‘HMCS Margaret Brooke’ is visiting Owen Sound, Ontario, and will be open for public viewing.”
Well, folks… I’ve been looking for some interesting places to visit and add to my bucket list, and this one fits the bill nicely.

I’ve started a bucket list of places to visit in Canada. Somewhere close to home, and places I’ve never been before. During my research (but not amazement), I discovered there are hundreds of options for interesting day-trippin’ adventures in our area that I’ve not seen.

While reading a newspaper article that mentioned the HMCS ‘Margaret Brooke’, a Canadian Arctic Patrol Ship, was visiting Owen Sound between October 3–5, 2025, I thought, “It’s official, that’s going on my bucket list!”

Canada’s Avro Arrow Story is Old, But You Can Still See a Replica at the Edenvale Aerodrome Museum

After all these years, I had to see what the Avro Arrow looked like

Seeing the Avro Arrow Interceptor up front and personal at the Edenvale Aerodrome Museum is another must-see adventure off my bucket list.

Question most people ask: *** Whatever happened to the Canadian-built Avro Arrow Interceptor from the ’60s? Well, folks, there is little mention of this futuristic plane in any American history library. Most south of the border have never heard of the achievements this plane made to the aerospace industry, and possibly could have achieved more if it had not been cancelled.

Corvorado Cadillac Pimpmobile: The James Bond Car That I Couldn’t Have Bought ‘But Didn’t’

Thanks to Clipart Library for the James Bond 007 icon with a Google image Pimpmobile background

*** As a car guy, I’ve been known to scour the countryside looking for unusual car finds to purchase. That in the automotive industry is often referred to as “barn finds.” But this custom-built James Bond 007 Corvorado Cadillac was not one I was looking for; however, it came knocking on my door for sale. And stupid me, I passed up this one-of-a-kind car called a Corvorado Cadillac Pimpmobile.
