The fall Harold Watson Memorial Waterdown Car Show and Swap Meet has come and gone, but to clarify a few misconceptions. most car guys don’t call it Waterdown, it’s simply the ‘Rockton car show and Swap Meet. ‘ Why, because it’s held at the famous ‘Rockton Fair Grounds.’

Could Crossroads Trading Post in Brantford be described as a flea market, or is it more of an antiques and collectibles outlet? Well, when you visit, call it whatever you like; however, what an interesting place to wander through and discover all kinds of unique and interesting treasures for sale.
This story began with an unexpected phone call that sent me toward Brantford and the Ancaster/Hamilton area. As I drove nearer my destination, I remembered a place I hadn’t visited in years, one that just happened to be right along my route.

Well, folks… I’ve been looking for some interesting places to visit and add to my bucket list, and this one fits the bill nicely.
I’ve started a bucket list of places to visit in Canada. Somewhere close to home, and places I’ve never been before. During my research (but not amazement), I discovered there are hundreds of options for interesting day-trippin’ adventures in our area that I’ve not seen.
While reading a newspaper article that mentioned the HMCS ‘Margaret Brooke’, a Canadian Arctic Patrol Ship, was visiting Owen Sound between October 3–5, 2025, I thought, “It’s official, that’s going on my bucket list!”

Seeing the Avro Arrow Interceptor up front and personal at the Edenvale Aerodrome Museum is another must-see adventure off my bucket list.
Question most people ask: *** Whatever happened to the Canadian-built Avro Arrow Interceptor from the ’60s? Well, folks, there is little mention of this futuristic plane in any American history library. Most south of the border have never heard of the achievements this plane made to the aerospace industry, and possibly could have achieved more if it had not been cancelled.

I must explain my intention for this article. At the beginning of the summer, I made up a bucket list of sorts and places to visit in Ontario. The famous Avro Arrow Airplane Museum at Avendale Aerodrome was one, and today, I’ve explored the retired (decommissioned) HMCS ‘Ojibwa.‘ ‘A Canadian Cold War submarine, permanently mounted at Port Burwell Elgin Military Museum.’
But, I also have to mention, my fascination with submarines goes back many years, while vacationing in South Carolina, U.S.A. In our travels through that beautiful state, I came across a sign saying, ‘Patriot Point Naval & Maritime Museum’ pointing in, >>> this way.
