Environmentalists have mentioned that our climate is at a tipping point of no return.
Could the climate between Donald Trump vs Canada be at that point of no return? You decide, however, read on for my opinion.
Looking back through the years as a ‘born and bred’ Canadian, Canada and the United States have had their disputes in the past. As the heads of state change, so does the thinking.
Canada and the US have had such close ties throughout the years of their existence; throwing the friendship, close connection, and camaraderie away is suicidal on many fronts. We have built many things together as two nations, and the most important part, “one complemented the other” in diversity, culture and thinking.
We work best together as a team rather than two disgruntled neighbours living side by side.
It would be a shame to take a disastrous wrong direction that could and will change everything as we know it. And make no mistake, on both sides of the border, “but I’m afraid, we all know that part.”
If Donald Trump ever stops acting like a high school bully with a grudge and acts like a human being negotiating deals in good faith for the benefit of his country, and Canada’s Prime Minister takes care of the welfare of Canadians, then with that mutual understanding, we will come to a peaceful conclusion between two close neighbours.
Today, and I stress today, it’s not too late to mend our differences; however, I’m afraid, like the environmentalists put it “time is ticking to the point of no return.”
All it takes is a stroke of the pen in a positive light or a pen stroke that will take us all down a long, dark alley of no return. Our countries and people have too many ties to throw it all away for personal reasons, and in my opinion, better diplomatically handled.
Let’s all make a deal that could benefit both the United States and Canada. Respect for both countries and saving face are the essential starting points for both countries.
“”” But the clock, I’m afraid, is ticking.”””
